Incorporating ENTERTAINMENT + FUN to Capture the Attention of your Ideal Clients
Here are some sobering statistics:
The average attention span of a human is 8 seconds.
The average attention span of a goldfish is 9 seconds.
That’s right. Your attention span is SHORTER than a gosh-darn goldfish. Yikes.
So imagine this:
• Your prospects open your emails . . .
• You click “play” on your YouTube videos . . .
• You pull up your webpage . . .
And what they get is BOOOOOOOOOOOORING.
So what do they do?
In 1 single millisecond, they move on to the next (hopefully?) exciting distraction.
And if you don’t keep this fact top-o-mind – your business is screwed. Royally.
Cause listen up: the human attention span has changed, ladies. Oh BOY has it changed.
Think: A.D.D. gone global.
You’re no longer live next door to Laura Ingalls Wilder – spending your day mending clothes and plowing fields. No Sireeee.
Them-thar simpler times are oooooooover, Missy!
Now folks are slammed with 10 gojillion gadgets: cell phones, texts, emails, instant messaging, internet, Skype, phone, TV, cable . . .
So your average, ho-hum approach just ain’t gonna cut it when it comes to communicating your awesomeness with prospects or peeps.
Make no mistake: This is why running your own heart-based business is like therapy on steroids: It requires you to stand in your greatness, continue to expand your confidence, and pull from those special parts of yourself that are wild-n-wonderfully unique; outspoken; wacky; brazen; powerfully personal; or outrageously bad-ass.
Whatever your unique hidden flair, you gotten learn to FLAUNT IT, kido.
No. This does NOT mean to be inauthentic. Phony. Or arrogant. QUITE the opposite.
It’s taking your truest, most passionate parts and turning the volume up.
. . . WAY up!
And what better way to capture the hearts (and attention spans) of your audience than through laughter, entertainment, and all things super-duper-silly?
Can you:
• Use unusual language, words, or surprising (shocking) phrases?
• Be a little bit goofy, wacky or absurd now and then?
• Poke fun at yourself (or your work) to help lighten the mood?
Or for those of you with less of a natural funny bone, consider:
• Exaggerating your body movements or tone of your voice
• Incorporating stories into your presentations
• Sharing a vulnerability or secret
. . . Whatever you can do to connect intimately with others, and make a memorable impression.
I say all this because I want to be honest with you:
What cut it 10 years ago in business just don’t cut it anymore.
As the world changes, you’ve got to change with it. And while your brain may find that stressful, your Soul is delighted beyond words. That means you get to enjoy MORE creativity, MORE authenticity, and MORE connection with the people you were born to serve.
No. There’s no more ho-hum paths for us Unstoppable women. That’s for dang sure. Now it’s time to unleash your inner Super-Sheroe!
Embrace a bolder, bigger mission.
Become a leader – a TRUE leader – for the people ready for the gifts you and I’ve got.
